I ruined my D50 dSLR. Looking for an affordable legacy Nikon dSLR with the Auto-focus motor built-in. Ideas ?

Look for another D50, a slightly better D70 or the newer D70s, … or possibly a D100 (a bit older than the D70 – roughly the same specs in a metal body).
The D50/70 are rated for 50k actuations; the D100 for 100k. (Repairing the shutter would cost over 50% of the value of body.)
